I am a contemporary visual artist, based in West Cornwall. My artistic practice is constantly evolving and my current focus is on the textural aspects of the landscape and coastline, and the way in which the paint itself contributes to the creative process.
Walking in the more remote parts of Great Britain including West Cornwall, North Wales, and the Yorkshire Moors, offers the opportunity to immerse myself in the landscape and explore elements other than the purely visual.
I am largely self taught but completed an MA in Fine Art Contemporary Practice at University College Falmouth in 2012, investigating the meaning of landscape and the process of painting. I am a member of the Oxford Art Society and CMR Project Space in Redruth.
CMR is an artist led project space, and my work there is focused on contemporary practice including photography, video and painted installations.
The Exeter Art Show, hosted by the Maynard School, raised over £16000 for the ‘Young Minds’ Charity. I’m pleased to say that one of my paintings was sold in support of such a good cause.
My studio will be open to the public during the Cornwall Open Studios programme. Opening times will be 11 to 5pm weekdays and 12 to 4pm on sundays. The studio will be open on 19th/21st/23rd/25th/26th/27th/and 28th May 2018. Other dates by appointment.
As a pupil of John Blockley it is good to see that his daughter Ann has written a book about him, due for publication in July. It can be pre ordered from her website. Click here for details
