Ron Ford

I am a contemporary visual artist, working as a landscape painter in West Cornwall. My practice is constantly evolving and my current focus is on the textural aspects of the landscape, and the way in which the paint itself contributes to the creative process.

I have been painting all my life but in the last 14 years I have devoted an increasing amount of time to it. Walking in the more remote parts of Great Britain including West Cornwall, North Wales, and the Yorkshire Moors, offers the opportunity to immerse myself in the landscape and explore elements other than the purely visual.

I completed an MA in Fine Art Contemporary Practice at University College Falmouth in 2012, investigating the meaning of landscape and the process of painting. I am a member of the Oxford Art Society and CMR Gallery in Redruth, which is an artist led project space. You can also see my work at Saatchi on-Line.

My work is informed by contemporary artists such as Per  Kirkeby, Hughie O’Donahue,  Jeremy Gardiner  John Blockley and Moira Huntly

Cornwall Open Studios is a very popular annual event in Cornwall when artists open up their studios to the public in early June.

I participated in Cornwall Open Studios this year for the first time and was pleased to see 85 visitors over 5 days. It provided a good excuse to tidy up my studio.
